Georgia Peanut Commission reminds farmers to verify acreage history at local FSA office

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission is urging all farmers to take action on a recent letter received from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) asking for verification of a farm’s acreage history. National Center for Peanut Competitiveness releases "Preliminary Base Acreage and Payment Yields Decision Calculator"

TIFTON, Ga. — At the Southern Peanut Growers Conference in Panama City, Florida, the National Center for Peanut Competitiveness (NCPC) officially launched the “Preliminary Base Acreage and Payment Yields Decision Calculator.” The annual conference brings growers from across the Southeast for three days of educational sessions focusing on production, research, marketing, industry issues and legislative issues. read more . . .

Georgia Peanut Commission opposes the sharing of grower-funded technology with producers in other countries

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission board of directors unanimously approved a motion opposing the sharing of grower-funded technology with other countries in direct competition with domestically produced peanuts. Southern Peanut Farmers Federation opposes changes in 2014 Farm Bill

Peanut industry donates peanuts and peanut butter to tornado victims

TIFTON, Ga. — Peanut Proud and the Georgia Peanut Commission loaded 20 pallets (28,800 jars) of peanut butter today to send to families affected by the recent tornado disasters in Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. Donations were made by Kroger, American Blanching, as well as Peanut Proud. An additional truckload is scheduled to ship next week. Peanut Proud president, Gregg Grimsley says he is grateful for the industry’s support. read more . . .

Georgia Peanut Commission increases funding for research projects

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) board of directors has approved $293,780 in new research project funding for the 2014-15 research budget year. This action was taken during the commission's March board meeting. The research projects approved include 28 project proposals submitted from the University of Georgia and USDA Agricultural Research Service. read more . . .

Georgia Peanut Commission attends Georgia School Nutrition Association meeting and awards peanut recipe winners

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission attended the Georgia School Nutrition Association annual conference held April 10-12 in Jekyll Island, Ga. Georgia PB&J Day set for Monday at State Capitol

TIFTON, Ga. — March is National Peanut Month, a time to celebrate one of America’s favorite foods! The Georgia peanut industry plans to celebrate by hosting the 2014 Georgia PB&J Day at the Georgia State Capitol in  Atlanta, Ga. The event kicks off Monday morning March 17, 2014, and will be held in the south wing of the Capitol from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The peanut industry will have plenty of PB&J’s, grilled PB&J’s, country-fried peanuts, boiled peanuts and more. read more . . .

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission now has a 3-D video featuring Georgia peanut production available at its headquarters off of Interstate 75 in Tifton, Ga. Farmers, local Tifton residents, as well as tourists traveling through South Georgia are encouraged to stop by the GPC office to witness the video first-hand and see how the new technology is being used as an educational tool for all ages. read more . . .
